AppUse is designed to get right at the core of application usage tracking in the computer lab environment. It may not have all the frills at this stage, but it can give you a solid look at the applications you care about, and give you the data you need to make decisions about purchasing and placing software licenses in your labs.
The focus of AppUse is on computers and labs, rather than users. Because of the potential for large amounts of data, LabStats aggregates AppUse records into intervals, like hourly or daily, for example. Specifically, LabStats stores data about each application you select, and how many times it was launched on each computer, or each lab, and how long it was used. This allows LabStats to also calculate the average length of time the application was used for a specific period.

Selecting Applications to Track
After LabStats 4 is installed, and your AppUse license is entered, the clients will begin reporting their applications in use to the server, and LabStats will build a list for you. You can then view the list and select the applications you want to track, as well as assign nicknames to replace the reported names from the clients.

Viewing the Usage Graphs
Bar graphs can be used to depict total times launched, or total running time for the period you choose. You can view these for a single computer, or an entire lab.

Generating Reports
LabStats can give you tabular reports for a list of applications and some usage statistics for a group of computers and a time period you select. Use our report builder to select your options
The results include total launches, total time used, average session time, and a link to a graph with the same data. You can also enter the number of hours the lab was open during your selected timeframe and calculate a usage percentage for each application.

What Can LabStats
do for me?
"We were using a home-grown system to record computer lab usage because we really needed the numbers to get our budget and justify our purchases. It was a lot of work to keep it running, and then the fool that created it left, and nobody else knew how to run it. We switched to LabStats and haven't looked back since. It gives us the information we need, and it's so much easier to use."
